Classroom Crafts: DIY Objective Boards

In most classrooms, you must have your objectives displayed not only for you and your students, but also for parents, other school staff, and your principal. In most of the classrooms I've observed in, teachers simply write their objectives in the corner of their white board, or have a small bulletin board dedicated to displaying them. I wanted to do something a little different!

While surfing through Pinterest (a daily task), I found this photo of a homework display. I thought it was ADORABLE and pinned it right away.

However, in Kindergarten, I knew I wouldn't get much use out of a homework display. Therefore, I decided to adapt it in a way that would be useful for me (and most other teachers out there!) Using cheap picture frames, fun paper, and letter stickers, I now have a cute way to display objectives in my classroom! They work just like dry erase boards!

I will probably end up hanging them from command hooks with some cute ribbon so that I can easily take them down to write on them. However, you can also use double sided tape to stick them to the wall and write on them that way if you want a more permanent display.

Happy crafting! Oh and ONE MONTH UNTIL THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! I have some work to do...

Call me Mrs. Redgate...

HELLO & WELCOME!

I am starting this blog to document the adventures and misadventures of my first year of teaching kindergarten. I know it's going to be a CRAZY year filled with tons of stories, tears, laughter, and memories, so I figured a blog would be the easiest way to keep my family, friends, and random onlookers up to date. I also think it will be a great memento of my first year as I continue my teaching career.

Now, please be aware that I am not much of a writer. I never have been! So don't expect a long, witty, beautifully written masterpiece every time I post. More than likely, I will post short stories, pictures, ideas, things that worked or didn't work, etc. Nothing super special! But I hope it might be informative, or helpful, or brighten your day a little bit. Who knows?? :)

So let me end be saying that I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS YEAR. This will be my first year teaching EVER and I cannot wait to see what's in store for me this year. So please feel free to follow along and laugh with me as I tackle the beast that is kindergarten.
